    Indonesia has a long history in occupational safety and health (OSH). To improve its OSH prevention culture, the country is now in the process of formulating its National OSH Programme 2019-2024.

    The ILO initiated an occupational safety and health (OSH) consultative meeting with its relevant social partners. By sharing OSH knowledge, programmes, lessons learnt and challenges, the ILO and its social partners could develop stronger workplace prevention culture.

  3. Strengthening the roles of Indonesian OSH Council to provide better protection for young workers

    The participation of Indonesian youth in promoting OSH is crucial. About half the 130 million population is under the age of 30 and many of them work in sectors with a high risk of workplace accidents and disease, such as the construction sector. The ILO assisted the Indonesian OSH Council (DK3N) to strengthen its young workers’ task force so that youth have a greater voice in national OSH policy deliberations.

  1. Enhancing OSH in the workplace, through social dialogue

    National occupational safety and health (OSH) systems can be improved and strengthened by creating a culture of prevention through meaningful social dialogue. This requires effective cooperation and collaboration among government, employer and worker representatives—as equal and independent partners—to find solutions to issues of common concern. Indonesia is rapidly improving its national OSH system and building a culture of prevention through effective social dialogue at national and enterprise levels.

  2. Lao People's Democratic Republic and ILO join forces to promote safety and health at work

    The Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare of Lao PDR (MoLSW) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) signed a Cooperation Agreement to start a new project designed to improve occupational safety and health in Lao PDR supply chains. The project is supported by the Vision Zero Fund (VZF).

  1. Integrating OSH into Indonesian micro, small and medium enterprises

    Occupational safety and health (OSH) is often poorly managed in micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), causing greater risk of workplace accidents and work-related ill health. As part of its 2018 OSH campaign, the ILO conducted a mini business clinic to help Indonesian MSEs building productive, safe and healthy businesses.

    ILO bolsters occupational safety and health committees in Albanian construction sector

    The ILO organized a two-day workshop to enhance Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) through social dialogue at the workplace in Tirana, Albania. The meeting took place on 26-27 April 2018, within the EU-funded project “Economic and Social Affairs Platform” (ESAP), in cooperation with the Albanian Ministry of Economy and Finance and the National Labour Inspectorate. Eighty labour inspectors and representatives of the social partners examined how the functioning of enterprise-based OSH committees in the construction sector should be improved.

  2. Reinvigorating Indonesian OSH programmes by keeping young workers safe

    Indonesia continues to reinvigorate its occupational safety and health (OSH). Indonesian representatives participated in the ILO’s regional training course to strengthen the implementation of its OSH programmes by providing more OSH protection to young workers.

    In conjunction with the commemoration of the National Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Month, the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the National OSH Council (DK3N) is conducting an interactive discussion title “Hazards at the Workplace, the Importance of OSH” as part of the efforts to raise the awareness regarding the importance of OSH at the workplace as a response to recent national OSH incidents.
