Programme on Safety and Health at Work and the Environment (SafeWork)

Based on the principle that Decent Work must be Safe Work, SafeWork aims to create worldwide awareness of the dimensions and consequences of work-related accidents and diseases; to place occupational safety and health (OSH) on the international and national agendas; and to provide support to the national efforts for the improvement of national OSH systems and programmes in line with relevant international labour standards.

    The ILO's Bureau for Workers' Activities (ACTRAV) and the Programme on Safety and Health at Work and the Environment (SafeWork) have held a sub-regional workshop on the evaluation and consolidation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) training programmes for workers' organizations in francophone Africa.

    Ergonomic checkpoints in agriculture: Practical and easy-to-implement solutions for improving safety, health and working conditions in agriculture

    The 100 checkpoints presented are examples of practical ergonomic interventions that can be achieved at low or no cost in agricultural and rural settings. Practical examples are provided in the illustrations attached to each checkpoint.

    Stress prevention at work checkpoints: Practical improvements for stress prevention in the workplace

    This manual aims at reviewing workplace stress issues. It includes easy-to-apply checkpoints for identifying stressors in working life and mitigating their harmful effects. Many of its illustrations are a guide to auditing good safety and health practices.

    Guidelines for the use of the ILO International Classification of Radiographs of Pneumoconioses, revised edition 2011

    This is the latest version of a well-established publication designed to standardize classification methods and facilitate international comparisons of pneumoconiosis statistics and research reports. This revised edition of the Guidelines supplements the preceding 2000 edition with an entirely new chapter.

  1. Seoul Declaration on Safety and Health at Work

    The Declaration calls for a preventative safety and health culture, which gives the right to a safe and healthy environment and which is respected at all national levels.
