Responsible authorities
The Labour Advisory Council must investigate and advise the Minister in respect of, among others, national policy in respect of health, safety and welfare at work.
The Regulations Relating to the Health and Safety of Employees at Work make provision for the appointment of approved inspection authorities. The inspection authority performs inspection duties provided for in the Regulations. These include an inspection function, investigation, testing, sampling, analysis or training.
The Ministry of Mines and Energy issued the Mine Health and Safety Regulations (10th Draft) made under section 138A of the Minerals (Prospecting and Mining) Act 33 of 1992 as amended.
