  2. 30th International Congress on Occupational Health

    The 30th Congress of the International Commission on Occupational Health (ICOH) will bring together occupational health researchers and practitioners from all over the world to share and learn from each other the most current advances in the field of occupational health. The theme of the congress is "Occupational health for all: From research to practice" and is based on the belief that all workers require health protection to prevent any occupational disease or injury as part of their human and labor rights.

  3. ILO International Safety Conference 2011 in cooperation with ISSA

    The conference will focus on the application of international tools on occupational safety and health (OSH) strategic approach at national and enterprise levels. Good practice in construction and health sectors, which face high and emerging risks to occupational accidents and diseases, will be highlighted. Under the theme "Promoting a preventative safety and health culture: International instruments, national strategies and good practices", the conference will offer an excellent forum to share the experience of different stakeholders and learn how to put it in practice at each level.

  8. Guidelines for the use of the ILO International Classification of Radiographs of Pneumoconioses: ILO Standard Digital Images (ILO 2011-D) in DICOM Format

    This revised (2011) edition of the "Guidelines for the use of the ILO International Classification of Radiographs of Pneumoconioses" extends the applicability of the ILO scheme to classifications of results from digital radiographic images of the chest. The ILO Standard Digital Images (ILO 2011-D) have been prepared for this purpose.

  9. Guidelines for the use of the ILO International Classification of Radiographs of Pneumoconioses, revised edition 2011

    This revised (2011) edition of the Guidelines for the use of the ILO International Classification of Radiographs of Pneumoconioses extends the applicability of the Classification to digital radiographic images of the chest, as described in a new chapter 6 (page 14). Chapters 1 through 5 are identical to those that appeared in the preceding (2000) edition of the Guidelines. That text remains applicable as written for classifying conventional film-screen radiographs and the associated sets of ILO standard radiographs remain available from the ILO.

  15. Acute mental care policy in response to the Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami, Japan, 2011

    The earthquake that struck Tohoku, Japan, on March 11th 2011, was the worst massive earthquake in the last two decades in this country, following those happened in Kobe in 1995 and in Niigata in 2006. The comprehensive picture of Japanese mental health care after the Tohoku earthquakes will be reported soon elsewhere, here some of the general principles of post-disaster mental health care are presented. These basic principles are also outlined in the Guidelines for Local Mental Health Care Activities after a Disaster in more detail. Although the guidelines were prepared prior to the Tohoku earthquakes, the following will introduce the basic principles of mental health care activities that can be applicable to the Tohoku relief effort.

  16. Chemical Exposure Limits

The most widely used limits, called threshold limit values (TLVs), are those issued in the United States of America by the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH).

  17. Training Workshop on Prevention of Pneumoconioses (using the ILO 2011 Classification of Radiographs of Pneumoconioses)

    This training workshop, which is jointly organized by the ILO Programme on Safety and Health at Work and the Environment (SafeWork) and the National Institute of Health in Peru (NIS-CENSOPAS), aims to upgrade the skills of occupational physicians, chest doctors, radiologists, and pulmonologists for the effective use of the ILO 2011 International Classification of Radiographs for early detection and health surveillance of pneumoconiosis. In addition to its advanced training program, the workshop includes the national test for certification of X-ray readings for pneumoconiosis developed by NIH-CENSOPAS.
