The ILO and Italy

The ILO Office in Rome is the representation of the Organization to its Italian and San Marino constituents, i.e. governments, employers’ representatives and confederal trade unions. The Office has also contacts with the national academic world and civil society and the Holy See.

As the focal point on labour and social rights, the Rome Office promotes ILO basic themes and initiatives at local level through various activities:

  1. organization of conferences and special events on main ILO’s issues;
  2. raising awareness on ILO’s themes among civil society and the media;
  3. providing information and assistance to constituents;
  4. providing information and documentation service to the general public.
In addition, the office publishes the ILO Roma Newsletter, a news bulletin on ILO activities with a special focus on Italy and Italian costituents.

The Rome Office hosts several ILO technical cooperation projects and provides them administrative support.

Besides the Rome Office, the ILO is also represented in Italy by the International Training Centre in Turin since 1965.
