Establishment of the H.E.A.R.T Trust
THE
HUMAN EMPLOYMENT AND RESOURCE
TRAINING ACT, 1982
(Act 13 of 1982)
Heart Trust/NTA serves as a model in developing and implementing
competency-based skill standards and qualifications in the Caribbean.
The HEART Trust/NTA and the NCTVET have ventured into a number
of partnerships with regional and international entities.
As the National Training Agency and the national body with the responsibility
for assessment and certification of the workforce the links between
industry and the TVET system remain crucial. The thrust to enter
into partnerships with regional and international bodies also speaks
to the commitment of developing the Jamaican worker to be competent
in a global environment.
The HEART Trust/NTA and the NCTVET have both been integrally involved
in several developmental activities with the Caribbean and Latin
American region, promoting the common understanding of technical
and vocational education and training as well as worker certification
and assessment according to occupational classifications.
Regionally, the HEART Trust/NTA and the NCTVET have been pioneers
in TVET, being integrally involved and sharing development experiences
with other regional TVET providers. The range of developmental activities
between the Agencies have seen a wide range of developmental activities,
including professional exchanges,
memberships as well as memorandum of understandings/agreement have
seen the forging of linkages that promises impact at the national,
regional and global levels.
Training
The HEART Trust/NTA offers a number of training opportunities though
its various programmes. A wide variety of skill areas are offered
in the following industry areas:
Information Technology - Agriculture - Apparel and Sewn
products - Automotive Skills - Beauty Services - Commercial Skills
- Building and Construction Skills
Industrial Maintenance Receiving training and certification in these
industry and their related skill areas open career development opportunities.
Training can be done whether you are on the job or just beginning
to learn a skill.
These courses can be accessed through severalf intuitions island
wide, including the: Academies and the Vocational Training Centres
