REDEL - Occupation and enterprise promotion in Uruguay
Italy finances the REDEL project which has been launched thanks to an agreement between the ILO, the Labour and Social Security Ministry of Uruguay and Italia Lavoro, an agency of the Italian Ministry of Labour. The objective of the project is to respond to the labour market crisis in Uruguay, which followed the economic recession in 1999. On one side, REDEL aims to develop local economies in order to create employment opportunities and on the other side, it aims to boost the creation of small and medium enterprises. This may draw to an improvement of productivity and hence help unemployed people finding a job. Reaching these objectives was made possible by connecting the production potential of the territory with economic conditions and labour supply.
