Global Compact Italy - « Sustainable development through the Global Compact »

Since 2003, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs supports strongly the UN Global Compact initiative for corporate social responsibility and finances the « Global Compact Italy. Sustainable development through the Global Compact » project. This innovative project aims to promote the Global Compact, the ILO Tripartite Declaration on Multinational Enterprises and the OECD Guidelines on Multinational Enterprises, as fundamental international instruments for corporate social responsibility and the social dimension of globalization. The project is mainly focused on small and medium enterprises which are the backbone of the Italian economy and may become vectors for the principles of corporate social responsibility even at international level and more specifically in Italian cooperation beneficiary countries. The project currently operates in Morocco, Tunisia and Albania.

The objectives of the Global Compact Italy project are: inform and raise awareness on essential instruments related to corporate social responsibility; promote the adoption of good corporate practices, through information and experience sharing and social dialogue; promote and facilitate public-private partnership projects, which may contribute to sustainable development through the enforcement of the corporate social responsibility instruments.
