9th ILO European Regional Meeting
In its 312th Session the Governing Body of ILO decided to hold the Ninth European Regional Meeting during the first half of 2013, in Oslo, Norway.
The proposed agenda of the Meeting is to discuss, on the basis of the Report of the Director-General, progress made by the countries of the Region between 2009 and 2012 towards achieving crucial outcomes determined by the Eighth European Regional Meeting, e.g. analysing and tackling the impact of the 2008 financial crisis and subsequent crises in employment, labour market and social policies in line with the Decent Work Agenda. The thematic and future oriented part of the Ninth European Regional Meeting and the Director-General´s Report hereto will focus on the key challenge of making the patterns of growth more inclusive and sustainable, such as through: investing in the real economy, particularly in job-rich growth and youth employment; promoting effective social dialogue; tackling demographic challenges; and strongly advocating international labour standards and policy coherence at regional, subregional and country level. To make this agenda operational, the Ninth European Regional Meeting aims to address the diversity within the region and its subregions as well as developing a roadmap of regional and subregional priority actions.
Following consultations conducted in 2011 by the ILO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia, the Government of Norway kindly offered to be the host country of the Ninth European Regional Meeting.
