New posters to strengthen ratification of ILO occupational safety and health Conventions



A series of eight new ILO posters calls for country ratification of key occupational safety and health Conventions. Produced by the ILO’s Bureau for Workers’ Activities (ACTRAV), the posters cover the following Conventions:

176, Safety and Health in Mines Convention   184, Safety and Health in Agriculture Convention   170, Chemicals Convention   167, Safety and Health in Construction Convention

The posters are available electronically at ACTRAV OSH Posters site in three languages (English, French and Spanish). They can be printed in A4 or A3 formats. The site also provides links to the full text of the Conventions, the supplementing Recommendations, the number of ratifications of the Conventions and additional information from different ILO departments.

Printed copies of the posters will be available for the International Labour Conference (ILC), 31 May - 16 June 2006. The delegates to this years’ Conference will discuss the proposed Convention and Recommendation on a promotional framework for occupational safety and health, based on the conclusions adopted by the International Labour Conference following the first discussion at its 93rd Session (2005).

The ratification campaign of the targeted Conventions, as well as others referred to and listed in the proposed Convention under discussion this June, will be intensified after the Conference.
