Senior Specialist, Occupational Safety and Health
Email
Annie was responsible for occupational health and safety in ILO SRO-Budapest from 2000 until 2007, and was also the ILO focal point for HIV/AIDS in the region.
She joined ILO SRO-Budapest in July 2000, and brought to the post a long and varied experience in occupational health and safety and work-related environmental issues. An environmental scientist by training, Annie graduated from the University of East Anglia in the UK at a time when the environment was a new and not very popular field for employment prospects. Developing her interests in occupational health and safety, Annie worked for an international trade union and then as a consultant to various NGOs based in Switzerland, UK, France and Belgium, the World Health Organization and the ILO, more recently in the ILO's International Occupational Safety and Health Information Centre (CIS).
She has published books, papers and training materials on occupational safety and health and environmentally sustainable development. Some of the more relevant for the region include a paper on privatization in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and its implications for occupational safety and health and the environment, and co-authorship of a series of country reports and a comparative report of trade union experiences in occupational safety and health in Central and Eastern Europe, the result of an ILO survey in eight countries.
