ILO Jakarta Information Center
Your gateway to labour information and resources in Indonesia

The International Labour Office Public Information Center (PIC) specializes in information related to ILO programmes and activities, specifically in Indonesia, as well as ILO-assisted projects. There are approximately 3,000 documents related with labour and employment available in PIC Jakarta. However we only keep the ones published after 1998 for general collection and after 2000 for the ILO annual and series documents. The main labour/employment-related subjects of documents are as follows:

The annual ILO publications such as Yearbook of Labour Statistics, Key Indicators of the Labour Market, Global Employment Trends, World Employment Report, International Labour Conference Report, etc. are also available. Information of new publications can be accessed through ILO-Jakarta website or thw ILO website at free of charge. The profile of ILO Jakarta covering updates of activities and programmes in Indonesia is also available. Furthermore, the Internet program is updated regularly.

OPENING HOURS

PIC opens and serves for general public at the working days and hours: Monday - Friday 08.00 - 12.00; 13.00 - 15.30.

MEMBERSHIP

There is no membership applied. Anybody needs ILO documents are suggested to come or send an enquiry by fax, e-mail or telephone to the Librarian. However all documents are not for loan and should be browsed/read in site.

SERVICES

Reference Enquiry

The ILO PIC mainly responds to requests from ILO officials, constituents, partner institutions and the general public for research assistance through library databases, online databases, e-resources and on information network connected to the ILO Library in Geneva. The responds/results can be sent back to the enquirers electronically.

Photocopy Service

Request to copy our library collection can be served in-house for a small fee and will be charged accordingly but we need one day to do the photocopy of more than 10 pages. Anyhow ILO priced-publications that are still on sale and the ILO Jakarta project reports cannot be photocopied fully (cover-to-cover).

Information Retrieval Facilities

The librarian provides assistance to retrieve the ILO information on our offline and online databases from two workstations which are available exclusively for PIC visitors.

Inhouse bibliographic database using CDS/ISIS on Windows (Winisis) for searching our collection that would also be available online from our website soon.

ILO Geneva databases on the ILO website and CD-ROMs, e.g.

  • ILOLEX contains ILO Conventions and Recommendations, ratification information, comments of the Committee of Experts and the Committee on Freedom of Association, representations, complaints, interpretations, General Surveys, and numerous related documents.
  • LABORDOC contains references to a wide range of print and electronic publications, including journal articles, from countries around the world, on all aspects of work and sustainable livelihoods, and the work-related aspects of economic and social development and human rights. LABORDOC provides an ever-increasing number of links to online publications available on the Internet.
  • LABORSTA contains labour statistics for over 200 countries or territories.
  • NATLEX contains a continuously updated database containing references to over 55,000 national laws on labour, social security, and related human rights, and over 300 laws in full text.
  • CISDOC contains nearly 50,000 citations of documents on occupational health and safety: law and regulations, chemical safety, data sheets, training material, articles from periodical publications, books and ILO conventions.

Sales of ILO priced-publications

The ILO has published an extensive range of publications on a variety of topics related to labour such as employment, social security, occupational safety and health, industrial relations, child labour, labour law, enterprise development, and other aspects of the world of work. To see the whole selection of them, please visit the ILO Publication website. And to have them, please send the order form to the librarian and get a special conversion rate for each title you order. (1 Sw.frs. = Rp. 1.375,-)

ILO Jakarta free-publications

Most of the ILO Jakarta publications are available online in ILO-Jakarta website. The hard copies, however, can be requested through the librarian and collected at the PIC.

INTERNSHIP TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE

The provision of technical assistance and training for labour information specialists on capacity building in operating a public information center/library/ resource center/documentation center in accordance with ILO library standards especially for ILO constituents/partners and library science students can be carried out upon request in the ILO Jakarta PIC.

 ‘OLD’ COLLECTION GIVE-AWAY

Every two years there will be a selection of the ILO PIC collection based on the year. The old ones (published more than five years from the current year) will be given away to libraries and ILO constituents/partners. Please feel free to contact the PIC Librarian should your institutions/libraries like to have them.

CATALOGUE & CLASSIFICATION

All books and documents are catalogued and classified. Catalogue is stored electronically using CDS/ISIS on Windows which could be accessed here by PIC visitors. Every three months a list of new collection will be produced and it is circulated for free by e-mail in early April, July, October and January, and it is also available online in ILO-Jakarta website. Should you need to receive the list regularly by e-mail, please contact the librarian.

NEWS CLIPPINGS

The ILO Jakarta PIC holds the following newspaper clippings covering labour and employment issues (mostly from local papers and from the weekly magazines) both in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
