The ILO Library
mainly responds to requests of ILO staff for research assistance by telephone, email, fax, or in person. Assistance can be provided to an official in using research tools, including the Book Database, Periodical Database and other electronic databases, via the Internet, or the internal network.

Compilation of Bibliography

Any client may present a written (letter, fax or email) request for a personalized, subject search of the Library
catalogues. The requested bibliography can also be sent back to the requester by email.

Current Awareness Service

To alert the users of current materials and information recently added in the Library's collection and electronic databases through its monthly List of Library Accessions, including library announcement on new information and interesting web sites with brief summary.

Selective Dissemination of Information

The Library identifies and highlights articles and arrival of new publications of specific interest to ILO officials and specialists in the Regional Office and Sub-regional Office.

The Library scans printed and online press for news and articles on ILO to identify key labour related issues of specific concern to ILO officials and specialists for
sending through email.

Loan and Inter-Library Loan

The Library
's collection is available to be borrowed up to a maximum ten items for two weeks.

ILO staff in Bangkok Office may have documents delivered directly to their office or collect them in the Library.

Non-ILO staff who wish to borrow publications from the Library should bring an inter-library loan form or a letter printed with the letterhead of their respective library or organization. The ILO Library can lend items to outside clients directly only through the inter-library loan service.

Certain types of document are not available for loan i.e. documents regularly used by ILO officials or currently on loan to them, reference materials, texts of legislation or official gazettes.

- Internet access is available at two workstations.
- Client access to the Library's collection through library databases and CD-ROMs.
- Photocopy machine is available for use by clients for a small fee.

ILO staff may recommend books, e-books, periodicals or electronic databases for library acquisition by e

Promotion of ILO Publications

The Library regularly participates in the organization of promotional activities and exhibits focusing on the display and distribution of ILO publications in various conferences and meetings at national, regional and international levels.

The Library also promotes ILO publications through the sales of ILO publications.  All ILO publications can directly be ordered by:

Provision of technical assistance and training for labour information specialists on capacity building in operating library and documentation centre in accordance with ILO library standard especially to field offices in the region as well as ILO constituents, ILO partner institutions upon request.
