The ILO Regional Office for Arab States strives to promote decent work in the Levant and the Gulf. The Regional Office in Beirut covers in 11 countries: Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, UAE, Oman, Qatar and Bahrain. ILO activities in the occupied Palestinian territory are also part of the Regional Office portfolio.

30 May - 15 June 2012 - Geneva, Switzerland 101st Session of the International Labour Conference The 101st session of the International Labour Conference of the ILO is to be held in Geneva (Switzerland) from 30 May to 15 June 2012. Each member State of the ILO is represented by a delegation consisting of two government delegates, an employer delegate, a worker delegate and their respective advisers.
12 June 2012 - Geneva, Switzerland World Day Against Child Labour 2012: Human rights and social justice... let's end child labour This year the World Day Against Child Labour will provide a spotlight on the right of all children to be protected from child labour and from other violations of fundamental human rights. In 2010 the international community adopted a Roadmap for achieving the elimination of the worst forms of child labour by 2016, which stressed that child labour is an impediment to children’s rights and a barrier to development. World Day 2012 will highlight the work that needs to be done to make the roadmap a reality.
15-17 May 2012 - Beirut, Lebanon Regional Workshop on "Women in Business and Management" The ILO Bureau for Employers’ Activities (ACT/EMP) in collaboration with ILO Regional Office for Arab States is organizing a regional workshop for representatives of the employers' organizations in the Middle-East and North Africa on "Women in Business and Management".
9 April 2012 - Amman, Jordan National Consultation on Youth Employment in Jordan TThe International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) will be organizing a national consultation on youth employment in Amman on Thursday 19 April 2012 at the ECOSOC premises (Shmeisani), in a bid to map out current activities, and identify potential synergies.
