Chile
Califica - Programme of Continuing Education and Training
The Programme of
Continuing Education and Training Chile Califica is a joint initiative
of the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry
of Labour and Social Security.
The Programme intends to contribute to the productive development of
the country and the improvement of opportunities of the people through
the creation of a system of continuing education and training.
The main challenges
are:
- To answer the
country's requirements of competency-based training in order to strengthen
its development, improve the levels of literacy, schooling and training
of the national population, specifically of the poorest sectors.
- To improve the technical training in order to contribute to the country's
development needs and productive diversification. In order to achieve
the above, the following problems will be approach: quality problems
related to secondary and higher technical training; insufficient coverage
regarding the higher technical training; weak connection with the productive
world requirements and the regional development; and; lack of articulation
of the different levels of training.
- To set up in a gradual manner a national framework of labour competencies,
routes of technical training and a system of information for continuing
education and training. The above will allow the updating and progress
of training and also the recognition of skills, no matter how the competencies
have been acquired. It also will allow the enlargement and quality of
the training supply and the availability of information on the labour
market and on the training opportunities.
The Programme has
three types of beneficiaries:
- The poorest sectors of the active population that are actually working
or looking for a job and need to improve their labour competencies and
their literacy and schooling levels.
- A significant group of young people and workers that will benefit
of a quality secondary and higher technical training.
- The active population through the devices that allow evaluation and
certification of labour competencies as well as through the devices
that allow the flexible progress in different technical training routes
according to personal and vocational expectations and demands.
