The National Industrial Training Service (SENAI) was created by the decree –law 4.048 January 22nd. 1942. It is a private institution with national scope, which seeks solutions for the Brazilian industry.

Initially concerned with vocational education, the SENAI is today a world reference in vocational training, technical and technological assistance and production and dissemination of information. The institution has been permanently changing itself according to the needs of the national industry through strategic alignment organised around the changes in the socio political and economic context along its more than five decades of existence.

The SENAI is organised in a federal system with one national department and 27 regional departments, which are administrated by the National Confederation of the Industry-NCI.

The institution is responsible for the training of 2.8 million of professionals per year, the administration of a network of 726 operational units and 30 million enrolling in more than 58 years.

SENAI´s mission

"To contribute to the strengthening of the industry and the full sustainable development of the country, promoting the education for work, citizenship, technical and technological assistance and the production and dissemination of information, adaptation, generation and dissemination of technology".

Future vision of SENAI

In the year 2010 the SENAI will take the national leadership as an institution of education for work. It will based this leadership in technological innovation, result/oriented administration and international recognition.

Strategics lines

  • Systematic actions: to prioritise the development of integrated action between units and departments of SENAI and the rest of the NCI system in terms of customer attention

  • Action in productive chains: enlarge the attention to the productive sector with a supply of integrated solutions

  • Management improvement: disseminate a model of enterprise management based in the valorisation of competencies and the achievement of results.

  • Market orientation: intensify the development of actions to strengthen and enlarge the SENAI relations with the national and international market.

    • Social responsibility: intensify the development of actions with social impact and emphasis in public responsibility as well as citizenship exercise.
    • Sustainability: intensify the efforts to enlarge the supply of competitive and innovative products and the establishment of strategic alliances.
