Sebrae Challenge is a simulation game on business management directed
to students who have enrolled in Higher Education (Technical, Technological
and University Training at an Undergraduate level) in all the Colombian
territory.
Regardless of the course of studies or semester they are in, students
who are interested form teams to participate in this completely virtual
contest, originated in Brazil but developed simultaneously by six countries
in Latin America: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.
The game uses exclusive software and the competition has the objective
of improving participants' knowledge on the area of business, regardless
of the course of studies they are following.
During competition players gather together in groups of 3 to 5 participants;
each team is responsible for the virtual management of an enterprise.
Teams are grouped in units of 8 and each unit will represent an industry
of consumption goods in which the eight enterprises will begin to compete
under strictly equal conditions from the very beginning of the game.
In this industry, situations similar to the ones faced everyday by entrepreneurs
will be simulated. Each enterprise will try to use their resources in
the best possible way so as to obtain the best performance of the enterprise.
At the beginning of the game each team will receive some software to
be installed in their PC and instructions to the game. The simulator
will enable them to have the necessary information groups to make decisions
according to the situation of their own enterprise and the context in
which they are competing.
During the competition, participants have the chance to test and "SIMULATE"
their decision-making ability, their capacity to work in teams, find
solutions and also having the opportunity to enrich their enterprising
spirit.
It is a virtual Challenge; competitors play and send their decisions
via Internet.
SENA will support the enrolment of 114 teams, integrated by students
of degree issuing training programmes. The deadline for enrolments will
be 25 August 2006. All information may be found at: www.desafiosebrae.com.co
The winning team will be awarded a trip to Rio de Janeiro to visit
business incubators, universities and enterprises.
This event is organised by Acopi, the Corporation for Social Economic
and Technological Research of Colombia (Cinset), SENA, The Republic,
the Brazilian Embassy and the Ministry of National Education and the
