The INET was created by
the Decree 606/95 with the goal of providing the Ministry of
Culture and Education of that time with an instrument for the
development of the policies related to vocational and technical
education.
The INET is a strategic
agency in the Argentinean education because of the vigorous
drive of technology in the world and in the country. Its mission
is to disseminate technology as part of our culture and to design
and execute a national policy on technological education and
education for the work with technologies. INET is the institution
that links the educational system and the productive and work
sectors.
An Executive Director with
the status of Sub secretary of State directs the INET.
As stated in the Presidential
Decree 143/00, the goals of the INET are:
- To offer technical assistance
in pedagogical, organizational and managerial issues related
to the training and development of human resources that facilitate
the process of economic transformation, productive modernization
and technological innovation.
- To promote quality in
the technological training to ensure the permanent adaptation
of the educational supply to the social and productive demands.
Quality is promoted through federal coordination and articulation
with programmes of support, compensation and promotion.
- To promote and coordinate
programmes to satisfy needs that the basic structure of the
educational system does not satisfy and that require specific
offers according to the student or the social context.
- To organize the Federal
Network of Technical and Vocational Training to develop specific
technical and vocational training articulated to the different
levels of the National Educational System.
- To administrate the
regime of Law 22.317 on Fiscal Credits.
- To develop actions related
to different processes of educational integration, particularly
those processes related to the countries that integrate the
MERCOSUR.
The current administration
of the INET has created an Educational Policy Programme that
has three lines of action. Two of them are new and the third
one implies some changes to one of the policies that the INET
was developing.
The two new initiatives
are the project Technological School and the creation of the
Integrated System of Vocational Training. The third line of
action has to do with the Programme of Evaluation and the improvement
of the implementation of the TTP (Technical Occupational Developments.)
