    3-4 November: Tripartite Workshop on Improving Communication and Media Strategies for the Promotion of Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining at the ILO Offices, Kazi House, Dar es Salaam
    The ILO through the ILO-USDOL project on Improving Labour Law Compliance (ILLC) in the United Republic of Tanzania and the ILO-Norway global project on Promoting Freedom of Association and the Effective Recognition of the Right to Collective Bargaining is organizing the above seminar from 3 to 4 November 2011 at the ILO Offices in Dar es Salaam.The workshop is aimed at improving partners’ capacity in the area of Communication and Media Strategies, with a view to promote Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining.
  • 30 October – 2 November 2011: Month of women entrepreneurs financial fair at Manazi Mmoja grounds, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
    MOWE aims to inspire women entreprenuers use their idea and energy to turn chanllenges into opportunities. The Financial Fair is forum for interaction between women entrepreneurs and financial institutions. The fair is an opportunity for financial institutions to share information about what financial products exist and who is providing them.
  • 19 – 24 September 2011: A National Capacity-Building Workshop for Wage Board Members; Concepts and Techniques for Setting Minimum Wages, ILO CO Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
    The project on Improving Labour Law Compliance in the United Republic of Tanzania (ILLC), as agreed with the Ministry of Labour and Employment, is organizing a specialized training for all members of the Wage Boards from 19th to 24 September 2011 in Dar es Salaam. The proposed content of the training sessions consists of: an overview of minimum wage-setting, including a discussion on ILO Convention 131; the objectives and mandate of minimum wage boards; using wage data; negotiation skills for wage-setting and consensus building. The sessions on wage-setting will be led by an expert from ILO headquarters (TRAVAIL), while the negotiation skills sessions will be led by the ILLC Chief technical Adviser.
  • Youth - to - Youth call for proposal
    The Youth-to-Youth (Y2Y) Fund is launching its second Call for Proposals in Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya. Non-profit youth-led organizations working on youth employment and entrepreneurship development across Tanzania are invited to submit their project ideas focusing on ways to empower and enable young women to establish and improve their enterprises as a means to create decent work opportunities for young people across Tanzania.
  • Good Practice that Protect Children and Youth from Hazardous Work
    The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, in consultation with employers’ and workers’ organizations and other key stakeholders, developed the National hazardous work list for Uganda, with ILO-IPEC, SNAP project support. The National hazardous work list has been incorporated in the “Guidelines for Labour Inspectors on the identification of hazardous child labour” and was launched in May 2010 by the Government of Uganda. This list helps to establish if a child is involved in hazardous labour and what kind of measures need to be taken
  • EATUC/ILO Sub Regional Workshop On East African Trade Unions Intiatives To Fighiting Child Labour Held At Tom Mboya Labour College, Kisumu .
    The East African Trade Union Confederation (EATUC) in collaboration with the ILO’s International Programme on the elimination of Child labour (IPEC) organized a workshop on trade unions initiatives to fighting child labour from 28th to 29th march 2011 at the Tom Mboya Labour College, Kisumu, Kenya.

    ILO/WEDGE AND MOWE committee organizes private sector CEOs dialogue and fund raising event(pdf file 62Kb)
    ILO’s Women Entrepreneurship Development and Gender Equality programme (WEDGE) is organizing the Month of Women Entrepreneurs (MOWE) event due October/November 2011 at the Karimjee Grounds in Dar es Salaam. In order to ensure a successful event, the Committee in collaboration with ‘Wanawake na Maendeleo’ NGO, (WAMA) have organized a fundraising event on 26th August 2011, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dar es Salaam inviting CEOs of private companies and other stakeholders to contribute to the above event. CEOs are invited and encouraged to participate at this event which will be officiated by The First lady, Mama Salma Kikwete. The entrepreneurs aim at commemorating the 50 years of Tanzania independence by inspiring their fellow women entrepreneurs to use their capability and take advantage of the available opportunities.
