    Technical course on OHS in construction in Kenya for Workers and Employers
  • The course aims at providing training to OHS for construction workers and employers, including: Health and Safety for Workers, Managing Safety, Legal Framework and Implementation and Basic Workers Right
  • 10-11 May 2012:, Nairobi, Kenya
    Workshop on the Construction Industry in East Africa
  • A Sub-regional workshop on construction for East Africa, will be held at Safari Club Hotel. Nairobi from 10 to 11 May 2012 and will involve participants from Uganda, Burundi, Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania. The meeting focusing on the countries of the East African Community will discuss an integrated approach to social dialogue, national sector policy development and capacity building. The meeting will bring together public-sector and private-sector clients, contractors, industry professionals, labour inspectors and trade unions to discuss the main challenges of the sector and build up joint proposals for promoting decent work in the construction industry.
  • 14 - 16 May 2012: Dar es salaam, Tanzania
    Sub-Regional Workshop for Selected African Countries: Improving Safety and Health in Mining. (pdf file 268Kb)
    The workshop will be attended by 33 participants drawn from Governments, Employers’ and Workers’ Organizations from Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe and Zambia and will be facilitated by ILO Headquarters and ILO-DWT Pretoria. The workshop aims to increase understanding on how safety and health can be improved in mining through enhancing risk management and addressing issues such as silicosis; encouraging cooperation among governments, employers’ and workers’ organizations and assistance to Member States in the effective implementation of related international labour standards and tools for the sustainable growth and well-being in the sector.
