On the 10th of September 2008, the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA), the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Social Security Association (ISSA) gathered in Seoul, Republic of Korea, for the First Global Forum for the Seoul Declaration. After the signing of the Seoul Declaration during the high level Summit held on the 29th of June 2008, the First Global Forum presented an opportunity to consider means and possibilities to put into action the provisions of the Declaration. The Meeting brought together top representation of international, national and regional organizations responsible for occupational safety and health, including government, employer and worker delegates. The ILO accentuated the role of international organizations in strengthening the values expressed in the Seoul Declaration. The Declaration which is fully in line with the ILO Global Strategy on OSH adopted in 2003 will now be drawn on throughout all of ILO’s national and international OSH support programmes. In addition to founding a Seoul Declaration Monument at their premises, KOSHA has produced promotional material to promote the Declaration. Furthermore, a joint evaluation is foreseen to ensure the success of the XIXth World Congress on Safety and Health at Work due to take place in Turkey in 2011. For additional information about the Declaration, see CIS News July-August 2008. See also «News and Events» on the ISSA Web site.
