The core work on developing knowledge, skills and employability is implemented through the Training Policies and Programmes Group. This work aims to help member States reform and strengthen their national training policy frameworks, and improve training systems, including the design and delivery of skills development programmes. Particular emphasis is placed on promoting innovative learning and training strategies in the workplace. Training for the working poor is also a high priority in the programme’s technical advisory services. In implementing this work, the Training Policies and Programmes Group engages all major stakeholders concerned with skills development, with the aim of assisting constituents, through advice and technical support, to introduce the necessary policy reforms to improve productivity and expand opportunities for women and men to obtain decent work.
