International Forum “Employment, Youth and Democratic Governance”
Together, the ILO Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean and the International Institute for Labour Studies are organizing an International Forum on “Employment, Youth and Democratic Governance”.
The forum will bring together representatives of governments, employer and worker organizations and international experts from the region and abroad to examine ways – and develop potential solutions – to confront the challenges currently facing the Latin American and Caribbean region.

- Emerging from the jobs crisis: What do we know about experiences that work?
Following the Working Party on the Social Dimension of Globalization of the ILO Governing Body, a seminar organized by the International Institute for Labour Studies (IILS) will debate policies which provide the most effective way out of the jobs crisis and draw lessons with regard to the implementation of the Global Jobs Pact.

- International Internship Course on Labour and Social Policies for Decent Work
The International Institute for Labour Studies will be organizing the 44th Annual Internship Course in Geneva during the period 14 May – 3 June 2009. This year’s course, which will be held in the English language, will be attended by twenty-four participants representing the tripartite constituents of the ILO.
The main purpose of the Course is to strengthen the knowledge base on decent work and to enhance the capacity of participants to contribute to labour and social policy development in their respective countries.
The course will focus on: (a) providing the most updated information on the component of decent work agenda available in the ILO; (b) enhancing awareness of ILO principles and programmes; (c) encouraging an integrated approach to social and economic policies for decent work; and, (d) stimulating a cross-national exchange of views and experiences among ILO constituents.
