International Labour Organization and World Bank sign new framework agreement to strengthen their cooperation
ILO and World Bank commit to agreement to improve collaboration on efforts to achieve sustainable development.
The World Bank and ILO work globally to address similar challenges and bring different strengths and approaches to development. Key collaboration is on going on research and statistics, policy advice and technical assistance to countries, particularly in the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The agreement will help ensure more streamlined processes, simplifying procedures to support the promotion of inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.
"By speeding up the process of negotiation, we can reach those who need our help sooner. Speed is of the essence in many ILO and Governments' projects with the World Bank," explained Hartwig Schafer, adding: "This agreement will facilitate and simplify our cooperation."
Joint work and coordinated efforts also take place in the fields of universal social protection, on which a new global partnership was recently launched. Other areas include youth employment and skills development, employment-intensive infrastructure investments, migration, gender equality, and support to fragile states.
