National tripartite workshop for validating National OSH Profile

In collaboration with the Directorate General Factory Advisory Services and Labour Institutes, and Ministry of Labour and Employment, ILO India is organizing a national tripartite workshop to validate the National OSH profile for the country.

The National OSH Profile is a document which summarizes the existing OSH situation of a country and is used as a diagnostic document to assess gaps in the national OSH system and identify priority areas for national action in OSH. The National OSH Profile is a valuable source of information for policy-makers, government officials, workers, employers and OSH practitioners to follow and monitor OSH developments and is used as a basis for formulating the National OSH Programme (strategic national action plans in OSH). Besides playing a vital role in building the promotional framework, the objectives of the workshop are to:
  • Present the contents of National OSH Profile and validate it for publication.
  • Based on the OSH situations described in National OSH Profile, discuss emerging OSH challenges in India and identify priority areas for national action that should be included in National OSH Programme.
  • Promote ILO Conventions on Safety and Health (No. 155) and Promotional Framework for OSH (No. 187) for future ratification by India.
The workshop is a result of the regional consultations held in August 2017 in 5 regions (Faridabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Kanpur and Chennai).
