The barefoot technicians training programme, launched in 2014 by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India is a unique programme that trains rural youth to supervise and monitor rural works created under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).

The programme has helped rural women find a voice, allowing them to break social norms and access the world of work. It has helped many women, like Radhika, to play a pivotal role in developing rural infrastructure, earning them respect and admiration from their communities.
