Development and adoption of local legislation for domestic workers

Local government units (LGUs) for the kasambahay: An advocacy forum-workshop with the National Capital Region (NCR) local government officials towards the development and adoption of local legislation for domestic workers

This report outlines the activities carried out and the documents prepared by the Institute for Labor Studies-Department of Labor and Employment (ILS-DOLE) and its collaborators for the implementation of the project "Advocacy Forum-Workshop with League of Barangay Officials, Mayors, and other Local Officials Component" specified in the Service Contract signed between the ILO Programme on Mobilizing Action for the Protection of Domestic Workers from Forced Labour and Trafficking in South-East Asia (ILO-DOMWORK Project) and ILS.

The Forum-Workshop component completion report (CCR) focused in forming a network of local government units (LGUs) to serve as domestic workers' champions in the National Capital Region (NCR), contributing ideas towards build-up and exchange of information concerning the sector.

The activity was also designed to benefit mainly the local legislators and project implementers in the NCR. Those who can play significant roles in the passage of an ordinance for the protection of domestic workers.
