Consultative Workshop - From Protocol to Practice: A Bridge to Global Action on Forced Labour

The ILO's Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work in partnership with the Ministry of Land Reforms and Management (MoLRM) is organizing the Consultative workshop with relevant stakeholders to identify specific progamme activities for the project.

The objectives of the workshop are to:

  • Introduce the new Forced Labour Protocol and the Bridge project.
  • Analyze the current status of relevant laws, policies and plan of actions aimed for the elimination of forced labour in Nepal.
  • Identify the gaps and challenges and way forward for the promotion of the Protocol and effective implementation of the Bridge Project.

In 2014, governments, employers and workers delegates at the ILO/International Labour Conference (ILC) adopted a Protocol and Recommendation which supplement the Forced Labour Convention, 1930 (No. 29) , and include measures regarding prevention, protection and remedy to eliminate all forms of forced labour.

The Consultative workshop shared the provisions of a new Forced Labour Protocol with the participants and identified key stakeholders and potential activities for the implementation of the project.
