Laureates and Leaders for Children Summit on the Fair Share for Children

The Fair Share for Children Summit will bring together Nobel laureates and global leaders to push for urgent action to prevent a child rights disaster in the wake of the pandemic.

The 3rd Laureates and Leaders for Children Summit on the Fair Share for Children will be held virtually from 9-10 September. As part of efforts to highlight the situation facing vulnerable and exploited children as a result of COVID-19, the Summit will focus on government engagement and commitments in the lead-up to the 75th Session of the UN General Assembly.

On the first day of the Summit, the ILO Director-General, Guy Ryder, will speak on the thematic panel “The Impact of COVID-19: Economic Exploitation of Children and the Role of Global Supply Chains,” alongside other speakers including Lalita, child rights activist formerly in child labour; Martin Chungong, Secretary General, Inter-Parliamentary Union; HE Smriti Irani, Minster of Women and Child Development, India; and Kailash Satyarthi, 2014 Nobel Peace Laureate. The panel will be moderated by Tim Ryan, Chairperson, Global March and Asia Regional Program Director for the Solidarity Center.
