Provincial Stakeholder Workshop on Addressing Child Labour in the Shrimp and Seafood Processing Industry in Nakhon Si Thammarat

ILO-IPEC together with its Provincial partners in Nakhon si Thammarat Province will organize a one day Project Stakeholder meetings to review progress made and plan for activities to address child labour in the provinces. These meetings are closely coordinated with Provincial Governor Office and chaired by representatives from Provincial Offices of the Department of Labour and involve both Provincial Government officials, trade union, private sector and civil society representatives.

The ILO-IPEC project 'Combating the Worst Forms of Child Labour in Shrimp and Seafood Processing Areas in Thailand' (2010-2014) aims to create a shrimp and seafood processing industry that is free of child labour and offers decent working conditions and opportunities to all workers, including migrant workers who contribute to the industry well being and to the economic development of Thailand. Special attention is given to the situation of children and adolescents at risk of entering or/and involved in hazardous child labour. The ILO-IPEC programme is financed by the US Department of Labour.
