Strengthening the role of Disabled People's Organisations to advance disability rights in Vietnam

The project aim to strengthen the capacities and role of Disabled People's Organizations in order to promote the rights of Persons with Disabilities.

PROJECT OUTCOMES

The project will be implemented jointly by UNDP, UNICEF and ILO. Three UN agencies will work closely together on the proposed outcome:
- Strengthening the capacities and role of Disabled People Organisations in the advocacy, development, implementation and monitoring of legal frameworks and policies.
- Ensure the current momentum around ratification of CRPD actually results in the empowerment of people with disabilities and enables them to claim their rights.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

The UN Partnership Project to Strengthen the role of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (DPOs) in Vietnam draws on the expertise and partnerships of UNDP in supporting ratification of the international treaties on human rights and access to justice for all members of society; UNICEF in supporting the development the realization of the rights of children with disabilities; and the ILO in supporting the development of employment-related policies and programmes.

To support the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the UN, member states and representatives of people with disabilities created the UN Partnership to Promote the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN PRPD).
