National strategic planning workshop for Alliance 8.7

Alliance 8.7 is an inclusive global partnership committed to achieving SDG Target 8.7. The main aim of the Alliance is to catalyse action on Target 8.7. It focuses on scaling up solutions that work, driving innovation, and leveraging and maximizing the impact of resources. The Alliance brings together actors at all levels to collaborate, strategize, share knowledge and ultimately accelerate progress so we can deliver on this commitment by 2030.

Viet Nam as one of these Pathfinder Countries, has committed itself to focus on ending child labour by 2025. As such, it is taking steps to adopt or revise legislation and policies, establish or strengthen coordination mechanisms and renew political will to pioneer new approaches and experiment with new solutions to end child labour by 2025.

Strategic Planning Workshop

Viet Nam will convene a Strategic Planning Workshop at country-level with all interested Alliance 8.7 partners as part of a process to develop a work plan. The workshop will also be the opportunity to assess the progress made by the country on Target 8.7. The work plan sets out measurable actions to achieve accelerated deadlines based on the results of the Strategic Planning Workshop. The necessary resources to fully implement the work plan and the indicators to review the process will also be identified.

Aims and Objectives

The event will provide a forum for:
  • Taking stock of the child labour situation in Viet Nam;
  • The identification of key priorities to accelerate the achievement of Target 8.7;
  • Developing a road-map 2019 – 2025 based on the agreed priorities
  • Strengthening the inter-Ministerial collaboration and the coordinating role of MoLISA and building commitment to the Alliance 8.7
