Consultation workshop on legislation framework related to child and minor workers, including child labour in Viet Nam

A two-day consultation workshop will be organized with the participation of policy makers and officials/staff from the concerned agencies to provide their comments on the draft report of legal review and analyses, as well as propose inputs and suggestions for revision of the Labour Code.

A two-day consultation workshop will be organized with the participation of policy makers and officials/staff from the concerned agencies to provide their comments on the draft report of legal review and analyses, as well as propose inputs and suggestions for revision of the Labour Code.

The review and analyses will help to identify the gaps and inconsistency between national laws and regulations related to child labour, as well as incoherence between the national legislation and international standards, and in particular, the need for a coherent and operational definition of child labour issued through a legal document, as well as opportunities to help review, revision/supplementation of the circulars regarding hazardous work for minors.

Objectives

  • To support revision and finalization of the report on legal review and analyses of the national legislation framework regarding child labour; and
  • To collect inputs and suggestions for revision of the Labour Code 2012, with the focuses on child and minor workers.

Participants

About 85 people, from the concerned and relevant ministries and agencies such as MOLISA, VCCI, VCA, VGCL, The Ministry of Justice, the Government’s Office, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Education and Training, the People’s Supreme Court. Besides the participants from the central level agencies, the concerned agencies from 19 provinces and cities will participate the workshop.
