Through the sharing of diverse perspectives, this event will highlight the unique contributions of indigenous women to their communities and economies. It will engage with the challenges that indigenous women face in the world of work and will also offer a forum for reflecting on the measures necessary to break the barriers that undermine the potential of indigenous women as agents of change. In this context, the event will showcase pathways and opportunities for furthering indigenous women’s rights and economic empowerment through access to decent work opportunities, including green jobs, cooperatives and other enterprises, which play a vital role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and combating climate change.

The event will serve as a platform to release a new documentary on ILO’s work with indigenous women in Latin America which will be screened for the first time. The video highlights the fundamental role of indigenous women’s rights and empowerment in transforming their lives and building an inclusive as well as sustainable economy.
