    Research on Promoting Fair Employment for People Living with HIV in China

    HIV related stigma and discrimination are particularly pronounced in three areas, employment, access to medical treatment and confidentiality, according to ILO reports of 2011. Employment discrimination is one of the greatest concerns of People Living with HIV in China today.

    HIV self-testing at the workplace

    Launched ahead of World AIDS Day 2018, the policy brief, developed by ILO and WHO, outlines key planning and implementation considerations for managers and implementers on HIV self-testing at workplaces. Given the gaps in HIV testing, HIV self-testing is one of the options recommended by WHO that can be used to reach undiagnosed populations. HIV self-testing at workplaces gives workers more choices, greater confidentiality and convenience.

    HIV Stigma and Discrimination in the World of Work: Findings from the People Living with HIV Stigma Index

    Although access to effective HIV antiretroviral treatments has improved significantly – enabling people living with HIV to live long and productive lives including working and contributing to society in many different ways – people living with HIV continue to face discrimination in relation to work in terms of finding employment, keeping jobs and furthering career progression.

    This brief provides a snapshot of the prevalence of discrimination against people living with HIV in workplace settings: a practice that is evident across countries and regions.

    Promoting a Rights-based Approach to Migration, Health, and HIV and AIDS: A Framework for Action

    Migrants’ access to health and HIV services can be improved only by adopting a human rights-based approach in the governance of the entire migration process. This new publication, released ahead of the World AIDS Day, analyses the interplay between fair labour migration policies, effective responses to HIV and broader health goals to be addressed in countries of origin, transit and destination; and presents a framework for action.
