Simuka-Phakama! Green businesses can catalyse meaningful changes to the Zimbabwean economy

On Friday 15 March 2019, 28 green business ideas from emerging and established small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) were celebrated at the Simuka-Phakama 2018 Green enterPRIZE Innovation Challenge Awards Ceremony. The business awards were delivered by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in collaboration with the Government of Zimbabwe, the Employers’ Confederation of Zimbabwe and the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions, with financial support from the Government of Sweden.

GAIN Webinar 5 (in Spanish): Empleos Verdes en Latinoamérica: ¿Cuál es la situación y qué herramientas nos permiten avanzar hacia una Transición Justa?
Como indica el título, la sesión pretende, primero de todo, evaluar la situación de los empleos verdes en América Latina. En segundo lugar, se proponen como herramientas para la Transición Justa (i) la metodología desarrollada por GAIN para cuantificar el efecto de políticas verdes en el empleo, y (ii) el papel de la cooperación Sur-Sur Triangular. Sri Lanka’s first ever ‘eco-recommended’ fisheries
27 February 2019
With the support of the ILO Local Empowerment through Economic Development (LEED) project funded by the Australian government, two blue swimming crab fisheries in Sri Lanka become the country’s first ever ‘eco-recommended’ fisheries. The five-year collaborative efforts involved the local seafood industry, government agencies and fishery cooperatives.
