The event was organized with the aim to provide participants from more than 30 countries, with a clear understanding of the existing opportunities with ILO, by addressing the social dimension of climate change and economic diversification, including impacts on jobs or development of skills for economic diversification in developing countries.

The workshop developed participants' understanding of mitigation co-benefits issued from adaptation activities and economic diversification plans under the Paris Agreement. Its sessions showed how these co-benefits can be accounted for in a general way, and what needs to be considered to ensure environmental integrity.

The workshop introduced various capacity-building opportunities from the ILO related to the just transition of workforces, decent work and quality jobs. Training was provided to Climate Negotiators on the GAIN methodology: How to measure and model social and employment outcomes of climate policies. However, the climate negotiators are not the ones to build models. These opportunities can help to maximize the positive and minimize the negative impacts of future climate change mitigation policies. In the context of the topic of economic diversification, it also offered an introduction to Skills for Trade and Economic Diversification (STED), Skills for Green Jobs and Green Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development.

The event was organized under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Mubarak Bin Daina, Chief Executive of the Supreme Council for Environment.
