The ILO is launching an appeal to its development partners to support the response to Cyclone Idai and Kenneth in Mozambique. The intervention
aims to contribute to the restoration of public services using resilient construction methods while generating short-term employment for young workers in Sofala and Manica, which have been the most affected provinces.

This response is part of the ILO overall strategy for the implementation of the Recommendation No. 205 on Employment and Decent Work for peace and resilience (2017), where disaster response and disaster risk reduction have been indicated as a priority in crisis response by ILO constituents. The estimated funding need is USD 13 million, spread across the 2019-2021 period.
