Meetings and events on labour statistics

The main and most important meeting organized by the ILO Department of Statistics is the International Conference of Labour Statisticians. It also organizes Meetings of Experts in preparation for the International Conference of Labour Statisticians. In addition to these meetings, the ILO Department of Statistics regularly participates in Meetings organized by the various City Groups , informal groups of experts from national statistical agencies that meet informally to address selected issues in statistical methods.

  1. The 57th Session of the International Statistical Institute, Durban, South Africa

    The ISI organises biennial meetings of statisticians from all over the world that is organized in different cities. The ILO is an institutional member of the ISI, although it is not directly involved in the planning or organizing of the session.

    The meeting of experts is expected to discuss and make recommendations on a methodology to measure progress toward decent work that involves the identification of quantitative and qualitative indicators.

  4. Meeting of Experts on Labour Statistics - Part I: Child Labour Statistics, Part II: Measurement of Working Time

    The meeting of experts is expected to discuss and make recommendations on two topics, under Report I: Statistics of Child Labour and Report II: Measurement of Working Time, with a view to advising the Office on its preparation of proposed standards for submission to the 18th International Conference of Labour Statisticians (Geneva, 24 November- 5 December 2008).

  5. Tripartite Meeting of Experts on Labour Statistics: The Updating of the International Standard Classification of Occupations, ISCO-88

    The meeting of experts is expected to discuss and adopt ISCO-08, the updated version of ISCO-88. It is expected that ISCO-08 will be incorporated by countries in their preparations for the 2010 round of Population Censuses. ISCO-08 will be made available in English, French and Spanish.

  6. 17th International Conference of Labour Statisticians

    The Conference adopted three resolutions concerning: household income and expenditure statistics, consumer price indices, and further work on the International Standard Classification of Occupations.
