BANGKOK and BEIRUT (ILO News) – The 17th Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting (APRM) of the International Labour Organization (ILO) will be held 6 to 9 December 2022 in Singapore to discuss concrete steps to drive job-rich growth that is inclusive and transformative.

The APRM will bring together over 350 ILO constituents representing Governments, workers and employers from Asia and the Pacific and the Arab States, as well as representatives of international organizations, and civil society. Some 15 ministers from across the two regions will also attend.

This will be the first APRM for new ILO Director-General Gilbert F. Houngbo. President of Singapore H.E. Halimah Yacob will give a special opening address.

The event will help forge commitment among the constituents on common priorities for action that will help shape ILO’s work in both regions for years to come.

Thematic sessions (in panel discussion format) will reflect the major world of work challenges facing both regions as they emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic. These include the need for policy reform to address structural inequalities in labour markets, steps to tackle persistent high levels of informality, how to widen social protection coverage as well as the need to drive productivity growth, quality job creation and skills development.

Key sessions of the APRM will be webcast to the public on the  ILO Live web platform (https://live.ilo.org/)
