4th Annual United Nations Forum on Business and Human Rights
The ILO is participating in a series of sessions at the 2015 UN Forum on Business and Human Rights “Tracking progress and ensuring coherence” to be held from 16-18 November 2015 at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.
The annual UN Forum on Business and Human Rights is the largest global gathering on business and human rights, and is attended by a wide range of participants, including States, enterprises, employers’ organisations, trade unions, civil society organisations, victims, academics, students and media representatives.
This year’s edition focusses on:
The UN Working Group on business and human rights established by the Human Rights Council and guiding the work of the Forum, has recently formalized its cooperation with the ILO in view of the close links of the Working Group’s mandate on the promotion of Guiding Principles with the mandate of the ILO. The Guiding Principles refer to “internationally recognized human rights – understood, at a minimum as those expressed in the International Bill of Human Rights and the principles concerning fundamental rights set out in the International Labour Organization’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work".
For the 4th edition of the UN Forum, the ILO participates in seven sessions, co-organizing two of them :
On Monday, 16 November 2015, the ILO is co-organizing with the UN Global Compact, the Institute for Human Rights and Business and Verité, a session on fair recruitment : "Working together to promote due diligence and to protect workers’ rights during recruitment", 16:40-18:00, Room XXI.
On Wednesday, 18 November 2015, the ILO is co-organizing with UNICEF, the UN Global Compact, Save the Children and Terre des Hommes a session on : "Respecting children’s rights in law and in practice : tools and approaches to fight child labour", 8:20-9:40, Room XX.

"Measuring State’s implementation of the Guiding Principles", 11:40-13:00, Room XX

Wednesday 18 November
"Multi-stakeholder engagement across all three pillars (case studies)", 15:00-16:20, Room XX
"Public procurement and human rights: a round-table discussion", 15:00-16:20, Room XXII

- promoting policy coherence, and;
- achieving more rapid change on the ground for rights-holders.
