GENEVA (ILO News) – The International Labour Organization (ILO) will publish the 9th edition of its Monitor report series, which tracks the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and other crises on workers and businesses worldwide.

The ILO Monitor on the world of work. Ninth edition, and accompanying press release, will be published on Monday 23 May.

The report gives a global overview of how countries are tackling an uneven labour market recovery that has been further undermined by developments such as the Russian aggression against Ukraine, increases in inflation, and continuing strict COVID-19 containment measures.

It looks at how the interaction of multiple crises, which is increasing inequalities between and within countries, could hamper efforts to make labour markets more inclusive and resilient and put at risk existing development progress.

The report and all associated materials will be under STRICT EMBARGO until Monday 23 May at 12:00 CEST (10:00 GMT).

For UNOG-accredited correspondents, an embargoed virtual press briefing will take place on Monday 23 May from 9:30 to 10:30 CEST (7:30 to 08:30 GMT). Login details will be sent to journalists ahead of the briefing.

Recognized regional journalists will be able to follow the virtual briefing via YouTube. The link will be sent in advance.

Guy Ryder, ILO Director-General, and Sangheon Lee, Director, ILO Employment Policy Department and leader of the team compiling the ILO Monitor, will present the findings at the press briefing.

Embargoed copies of the report and the press release can be made available to recognized media on request.

Audio of the briefing will be available to the UNOG press corps and registered journalists after the press conference.
