    The historic Erbil Citadel in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq dates back at least 6,000 years. The ILO joined forces with the EU, UNESCO and local partners to preserve national heritage, while promoting decent work for residents and Syrian refugees through labour-intensive approaches. ILO’s Deputy Regional Director for Arab States recently visited the site to inspect ongoing renovation works.

Funded by the European Union and implemented in collaboration with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the Office of the High Commissioner of The United Nations for Human Rights (OHCHR), the project will run until the end of 2022.

    Business coaching programme for transgender entrepreneurs

    The ILO business coaching programme has reached 394 transgender entrepreneurs from eight transgender community organizations in five cities in Indonesia for three years from 2018-2021. Around 65 percent of participants in the last two-year interventions (2020-2021) have witnessed an average increase of 178 percent of their business incomes.
