International Women’s Day 2015
ILO to issue an update on progress made on gender equality in the world of work and a working paper on the motherhood pay gap
GENEVA – On the occasion of International Women’s Day (8 March), the International Labour Organization (ILO) will publish a briefing note providing an assessment of progress made on achieving gender equality in the world of work since the adoption of the Beijing Platform for Action in 1995.
In addition, the ILO will release a working paper on the “Motherhood Pay Gap" between mothers and women without children.
Both documents will be under embargo until Thursday, 5 March at 23:01 GMT (Friday, 6 March at 00:01 Geneva time).
Electronic copies of the embargoed briefing note and working paper will be made available to journalists (only) upon request starting on Thursday, 5 March in the morning (Geneva time).
For Geneva correspondents: A press briefing under embargo will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, 4 March in Press Room No. 1 at the Palais des Nations to present both the briefing note and the working paper. Speakers will be Shauna Olney, Chief of the ILO’s Gender, Equality and Diversity Branch, and ILO Economist and Wage Officer Kristen Sobeck.
