The ILO is deeply saddened by the devastating effects of the earthquake and tsunami, which hit Palu, Indonesia on 27 September 2018, causing major loss of life and livelihoods. We wish to express our sincere sympathy to all those who have lost family members and loved-ones.

The ILO is fully committed to working closely with the Government of Indonesia, employers’ and workers’ organizations and other partners on the ground and collaborating with our fellow UN agencies in support of the recovery process, guided by the assessment and request of the Government.

We stand with the people of Sulawesi, who have shown much courage and resilience as they overcome this great challenge.
