  1. Egypt Entrepreneurship Summit 2017: Opening a whole World of Opportunities

    15 - 18 November 2017

    Under the auspices of the Ministry of International Cooperation, the ILO Cairo Office and the Middle East Council for Small Businesses and Entrepreneurship (MCSBE) will hold the third annual Egypt Entrepreneurship Summit in Hurghada from 15 to 18 November 2017, titled "Opening a whole World of Opportunities".

  2. 17th ILO Regional Seminar for Labour-Based Practitioners

    13 - 17 November 2017

    The theme of this edition is: "Delivering on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): The Employment–intensive Investment Approach". Participants will discuss the role and contribution of employment-intensive approaches in achieving the SDG outcomes mainly focussing on building national capacities for employment creation, expanding employment-based social protection floor and conserving the environment - including addressing climate change and its adverse effects.

  3. The ILO and the United Nations Climate Change Conference - COP23

    6 - 17 November 2017

    The annual United Nations Climate Change Conference will be presided by Fiji and held in Bonn, Germany from 6-17 November 2017. This twenty-third session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP23) will meet with the objective to advance the aims and ambitions of the Paris Agreement and achieve progress on its implementation guidelines.

  1. Academy on Green Jobs Promotion in the MENA Region

    The event is organised by DWT/CO–Cairo: ILO DWT for North Africa and Country Office for Egypt and Eritrea through ILO Project “Decent Jobs for Egypt’s Young People” (DJEP) financed by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) in collaboration with: International Training Centre of the ILO, Arab Academy for Science and Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), ILO Green Jobs Programme, ILO Offices and DWT in the Arab States and North Africa.

  2. Academy on Green Jobs Promotion in the MENA Region

    This one-week capacity-building event aims to discuss how the potential for green jobs in the MENA region could be realised. The overall purpose is to contribute to enhancing institutional capacities for transformative change towards greener and more inclusive economies.

  3. WorldSkills Conference 2017: Skills strategies for a globalized world

    16 - 17 October 2017

    Conference themes include: the globalization of skills and careers in an increasingly digitized world; jobs and skills mismatch; labour force mobility and the constraints of existing qualifications; skills development in cities, and; combating gender inequality in skills. The session on Jobs and Skills mismatch is being organized in partnership with the ILO.

  4. Quantitative techniques of impact evaluation: youth and women employment programmes. A step-by-step approach

    2 - 6 October 2017

    The course will expose participants to advanced skills for conducting impact evaluations of youth employment programmes. Upon completion, participants will have improved or updated their understanding of quantitative impact evaluation concepts and methods; will have reviewed and tested impact evaluation methods and techniques, such as randomized control trials; and will be in a position to identify the most pertinent types of impact evaluation, taking into account specific project constraints, institutional and national contexts, and budgetary, time and data constraints.

  1. YENA Conference 2017: The Future on Youth and Employment in North Africa

    26 - 27 September 2017

    The International Labour Organization (ILO) hosted a High-Level Conference on Youth and Employment in North Africa with participants from Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Sudan and Tunisia, as well as development partners and major stakeholders to agree on a five-year plan of action and roadmap to enhance youth employability in the sub-region.

    The International Labour Organization Country Office for the Philippines (ILO CO-Manila), the Green Jobs Programme and the International Training Centre (ITC) of the ILO have organized a regional dialogue on "Green Growth for Jobs and Social Inclusion: Making the Case for a Just Transition in Asia".

  5. High-level event on Youth Employment for Peace and Resilience

    Under the aegis of the Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth, the event is co-organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) together with the Ministry of Employment and Social Security of Spain and the Permanent Mission of Tunisia to the United Nations.

  6. Working out of disaster - from response to recovery and preparedness

    18 - 22 September 2017

    From 2015 until now, the ILO has supported post-disaster action in three Pacific island countries through conducting Post-Disaster Needs Assessments (PDNAs) of the Employment and Livelihoods Sector, implementing employment-rich recovery projects and through helping micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to establish disaster-resilient business practices. The demand for preparedness and recovery tools for the MSME’s is high, considering the effect of the disaster to income and employment.

  7. Africa Forum Private Sector Inclusive Green Growth and Job Creation

    The Zambia Green Jobs Programme (ZGJP), the Government of Zambia and the Government of Finland, in collaboration with the International Training Centre of the ILO and the ILO’s Green Centenary Initiative are pleased to announce the upcoming Africa Forum on Private Sector Inclusive Green Growth and Job Creation that will take place on 6 – 8 September 2017 in Livingstone, Zambia.

  1. Learning exchange programme: Social cost-benefit analysis of the Youth Guarantee

    12 - 13 July 2017

    The workshop took place in Turin from 12 to 13 July 2017. It gathered managers of the Youth Guarantee teams of Latvia, Portugal and Spain to discuss the main elements to be taken into account while conducting a social cost-benefit analysis (SCBA).

  2. Book launch: "Investing in Skills for Inclusive Trade"

    4 July 2017

    This publication, co-published by the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the International Labour Office (ILO), is to be launched at the WTO on 4 July. Building on previous collaboration between the WTO and the ILO, this publication focuses on the linkages between trade and skills and between trade and skills development policies.

  3. Evaluating Labour Market Programmes: Policy Forum & Executive Course

    2 - 6 July 2017

    As part of ILO’s partnership with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the IFAD financed project “Strengthening gender monitoring and evaluation in rural employment in the Near East and North Africa”, a Policy Forum and Executive Course on Evaluating Labour Market Programmes was offered between the 2nd and 6th of July 2017 in Amman, Jordan. The course was co-financed by the OECD Development Centre, the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation, GIZ and the Economic Research Forum.
