Comments and Observations: | ITF (25 2020) In June, crew were paid Feb, March, April after ITF agreed payment plan with owners. Owners did not stick to the plan. There are allegations of smuggling complicating the matter. On 09/09 there was a court hearing but we are not aware of the result. There is another hearing on 7 October. Crew refused to sign documents to allow P&I to assist as they are afraid that the court will not allow them to leave and that the employer may treat them badly if they sign. Court needs to approve that the crew can travel.
Govt. of Liberia (7 2020) This case is still ongoing, and we have the P and I club and their lawyers assisting to provide support to the seafarers onboard. From what we know so far, the vessel is under arrest by a Libyan court, and preventing the repatriation of the seafarers while proceedings are ongoing. P and I club, is working on getting a power of attorney POA signed by the crew to be represented in the proceedings, and to request the court to allow the repatriation of the seafarers.
