Dear all
I’m in touch with the ITF inspector on this case and the P&I club. My understanding is that the seafarers are no longer on the vessel and there are various outstanding legal actions. I don’t think we can say that all outstanding remuneration has been paid, although the club has certainly been doing its best to fulfil its obligations. I wouldn’t call it resolved at this stage.
Best, Katie

Subject: Analysis of quoted cases of abandonments - CY Flag M/V Amsel

Dear Natalie,

I refer to the attached analysis of quoted cases of abandonments and I am pleased to inform you that the case of Cyprus flag M/V Amsel has been resolved.

Based on information we have received from the Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Shipping, following contact with the ship’s Master yesterday, it was confirmed that the whole crew have been paid and repatriated through the Financial Security system by the American Steamship Owners Mutual Protection and Indemnity Association, Inc. P&I Club in accordance with:

a) REGULATION 4.2, STANDARD A4.2.1 PARAGRAPH 1(b) OF THE MARITIME LABOUR CONVENTION 2006, AS AMENDED
b) REGULATION 2.5.2, STANDARD A2.5.2 OF THE MARITIME LABOUR CONVENTION 2006, AS AMENDED

For the remaining due wages there is a court dispute in Bulgaria.

With kind regards,

Sophoclis N. Constantinou
