    Inserts new provisions in the Regulations issued 26 June 1970, as amended, in connection with the provision of self-rescuing devices, refuge bays in mines, training for survival in case of an explosion, fire or other emergency and related subjects. Issued by the Department of Mineral and Energy Affairs under s. 12 of Act 27 of 1956.

    Amends Government Notice No. 2568 of 25 Nov. 1983 regarding, inter alia, misconduct by municipal police officers. Misconduct includes joining in any mutiny, strike, riot or revolt and, if such an event takes place in his precence, failing to do his utmost to suppress it (Reg. 12). Inserts a new Reg. 13A regarding alternative procedures in cases of misconduct.

    Amends the National Education Policy Act 1967 so as, inter alia, to permit greater participation by the organised teaching profession in education and the training of teachers. Provides for the recognition by the Minister of Education and Culture of a body for the organised teaching profession. Abolishes the National Education Council and provides for the constitution of an ad hoc council. Governs other related matters.

    Temporary Removal of Restrictions on Economic Activities Act 1986. No. 87.

    Empowers the President to suspend temporarily laws or conditions thereunder with regard to certain undertakings, industries, trades or occupations, or to grant temporary exemptions, if circumstances exist so that the application of those laws or conditions unduly impede economic progress or the creation of job opportunities. Proclamations of this nature require the advice of the Standing Committee established by the Act, after consultation with the Minister of Manpower, when the following matters are involved: registration of employees and of factories, factory inspection, conditions of service and working hours, use of machinery, and health and safety protection. The Act shall cease to have effect on 31 Mar. 1989.
