    Introduces the general provisions: inter alia, principles of citizenship, double citizenship, honorable citizen (Chapter I); also regulates the procedure of getting citizenship and admission into citizenship, grounds for refusal to admit (Chapter II); regulates the procedure of termination of citizenship (Chapter III). Deals with the citizenship of children in case of change of citizenship of parents, trustees and guardians, citizenship of persons with working disability (Chapter IV); bodies competent in the issues of citizenship (Chapter V); procedure of consideration of applications and solution of issues of citizenship (Chapter VI). Final provisions set appellation procedure of decisions of bodies and actions of officials for the issues of citizenship, also the liability for violation of the requirements of this law.
    Repeals the previous Law of 4 November 1995 "On Citizenship of the Republic of Tajikistan" (Abkhori Majlisi Oli Respubliki Tajikistan, 1995, No.21, page 243).
